Building Feature: Butler High School

BUILDING FEATURE – BUTLER HIGH SCHOOL

The last in our building feature series is Butler High School. Originally (in 1922) all students went to Butler Township school on National (later the original Morton). The current location on South Dixie opened in 1956 with additions or remodels occurring over the next 50+ years to be school it is today.

With more than 850 students and a student:teacher ratio of 19:1, Butler is one of the top schools in the region. All VBCSD schools are Purple Star designated Military Friendly school, representing schools which show a major commitment to the students and families of our nation’s armed services. Butler alumni prosper in any field they enter or path they follow. The last three years also saw more than $30 million dollars in scholarship money awarded to graduates. The current principal is Mr. Buck Williamson.
