Vandalia-Butler City Schools has not asked for new operating funds since 2013. The typical span between requests for new funds is five years. Issue 10 was not a decision taken lightly, however the board of education considered several factors before choosing to put the earned income tax issue on the ballot including:
District demographics
Current approved property tax levies
The impact of a property tax versus an income tax
An earned income tax fluctuates with what a taxpayer earns where a property tax levy is continuous regardless of earned income thus helping the taxpayer in terms of tax burden.
Vote YES on Issue 10 on May 2, 2023!
